Description	:	Susanna Rachel McLaughlin, was born near Chillicothe, Illinois, December 16, 1847, and was therefore 65 years, 3 months, and 28 days old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Jacob Wesley Jenkins October 27, 1865. To this union were born eight children, one son died in infancy and John W. and Mrs. Sarah Addie Gallup died after they reached manhood and womanhood. Those living are Dr. C. E. Jenkins of Brookfield, Missouri, S. A. of Villisca, R. L. and F. C. of Jerome, Idaho, and Dr. H. E. of Forest Park, Illinois. Dr. C. E. and Dr. H. E. and Samuel in whose home she died, were present at the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins came to Iowa in 1877 and she had lived in the vicinity of Villisca ever since. Mrs. Jenkins had made a host of friends in this vicinity, being a kind and obliging neighbor and a good Christian woman. She was never ceasing in her acts of devotion to her family and in her days of suffering, it was returned by them. Besides rearing her own family, Mrs. Jenkins adopted the cild of her deceased daughter, Alta Gallup and cared for her and provided for her until she grew to womanhood and also provided a home for her sons’s daughter, Ruth, who is now living in the home of her uncle, S. A. Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins had been a member of the Presbyterian Church for a long time. Funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock by Rev. W. J. Ewing, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. J. W. Taylor of the M. E. Church.
