Read More	Samuel Barlean was born September 24, 1838, in Ashland County, Ohio, died June 1, 1904, at 7:15 a.m. He was married June 7, 1868, to Miss Sarah Ellen Cecil, a daughter of Andrew Cecil a native of Kentucky. They have become the parents of nine children who are still living, namely Cora Abbie, wife of George McLaughlin, Clara Belle, wife of John Pinney of Greeley county, Nebraska, Edward C., James Otis, Eva May, wife of John From, George A., Effie E., Elva A., and Ella. The entire family are still residents of Butler county, except Mrs. John Pinney now a resident of Greeley county. Mr. Barlean enlisted in 1862 in Co.C. 33rd Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He was a member of A. Lincoln Post No. 10 Grand Army of the Republic and religiously a faithful member of the Methodist church. The funeral services were held Friday morning at 10 o’clock at the family residence in Olive Township, Rev. Price, pastor of the M.E. church at Garrison, preaching the funeral sermon. The remains were laid to rest in the David city cemetery. The Barlean’s are old residents and highly respected citizens of the community in which they have lived and the heartfelt sympathy of many friends is extended to the bereaved family.
