Description	:	The first to settle in Scotia, the county seat of Greeley, was S.C. Scott. He came in 1871. From the St. Paul Phonograph, June 19, 1891, page 5: We have been informed of the death of Uncle Sammie Scott, as he was familiarly called, who lived near Scotia, Neb. Uncle Sammie will be remembered by the old settlers, he having moved to this country in 1873, and went through all the hardships of pioneer life. He was universally respected by all who knew him.
