Mr. Lane was born August 7, 1941 in Marion County, a son of the late Samuel Horace Lane and Beatrice Meggs Lane. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Jennings Lane and granddaughter, Olivia Nicole Gore. He graduated in 1959 from Marion High School, and was a longtime resident of the Spring Branch Community of Marion County. He was employed as a truck driver with Mercury Motor Lines for many years and in later years worked a local store clerk. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Lane Peek (Roger) of Florence; two sons, Samuel Edward Lane (Tina) of Florence and David Boyd Lane (Karen) of Camden; and 2 grandchildren.
