Harman died at his residence in Fullerton on Sunday night December 22, 1890 at 9 o'clock at the age of 70 years. Father Harman was a landmark in Fullerton, having come to this county and located in 1880, about a year after it was opened up for settlement. He came from Plainville, Illinois, to this place, but was a native of Pennsylvania. The deceased was a quiet man, of good ability and was highly respected, having held the office of justice of the peace and other positions most of the time since his residence in Fullerton. He has looked quite feeble for some time past and for some months it has not been thought that he could live long. Esquire Harman, as he was familiarly called, was comfortably situated, with six of his children being in the city, his wife having died soon after coming to this county. And his son, S. C. Harman died a few weeks ago. One son, Dr. B. T. Harman, moved to Wakefield, this state, some three years ago, but came often during his father's decline to see him. His children present besides the Dr. were Mrs. N. B. S. Odell, Mrs. John Harwood, and his sons, A. R., E. B., and Ott Harman. He had been for nearly 35 years a member of the Methodist church and the funeral services took place at the M. E. church of this place on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. M. A. Martin conducting the services, assisted by Rev. J. C. Irwin, of the Presbyterian church, and were attended by a large number of his old friends and acquaintances who followed the remains to their last resting place, in the Fullerton Cemetery. Father Harman lived a few months more than the allotted years of man, and has passed peacefully away in hopes of a joyful resurrection. He will be long remembered by many of the people of Fullerton as one of the city's most honored inhabitants.
