Well Known Concordia Citizen Dropped Dead While at Home of a Neighbor. The people of this city were shocked beyond words at the news that Samuel Maish had dropped dead Sunday afternoon. Mr. Maish who lived just across the street from the business college was in his usual health Sunday morning and went over to call on his neighbor, Mr. Doak. At noon he ate dinner as usual and then went over to call on another neighbor, Mr. T.A. Wood. He had been at the latter place less than an hour when he fell over unconscious and in a few minutes passed away. Mr. Maish was a little past 72 years of age, having celebrated his his 72nd., birthday the 17th of last month. He was born in Polk county, Pa., and at the age of five years moved with his parents to Indiana where he lived for 14 years. He came to Kansas in 1879 and the following year homesteaded three miles north of Lovewell in the White Rock community. Four years later he was married to the wife who now survives him and in 1892 they moved to Concordia. In addition to the wife Mr. Maish is survived by five children as follows: Albert Maish and Samuel Maish Jr., of Cloud county; Mrs. Clara McCoy, of Carrier, Okla.; Mrs. Ethel Scofield, of Deming, Wash.; and Mrs. Luella Schieb, of Stoner, Colo., Mrs. Scofield has notified the relatives here that she will be here for the funeral and it is expected that Mrs. Schieb will come. Mrs. McCoy is ill at this time and cannot be here. The funeral arrangements will not be made until the daughter arrives from Washington the latter part of the week.
