Description	:	Sandra Sue (Samp) Dixon, 71, of McCune, passed away at 7:43 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac. She had been ill for the past year. She was born March 29, 1940 at rural McCune, Kansas to Ralph and Evelyn (Harley) Samp. She graduated from McCune High School in 1958. After graduation, she married Eugene Dixon. They later divorced. Read More	Sandra Sue (Samp) Dixon, 71, of McCune, passed away at 7:43 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac. She had been ill for the past year. She was born March 29, 1940 at rural McCune, Kansas to Ralph and Evelyn (Harley) Samp. She graduated from McCune High School in 1958. After graduation, she married Eugene Dixon. They later divorced. Sandra was raised and lived her entire life on the family farm until her illness. Her passion and interest was maintaining the farm and tending the cattle, sheep, and her dad's pony, Jack, who is 45 years old. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier and also drove a school bus until she retired. She was a long time member of the McCune United Methodist Church, Ladies of Lions, and Kansas Livestock Association. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Nutt and her husband, Gregg of McCune; two grandchildren, Heather Burns and her husband Chris of Cherokee and Cody Nutt of Parsons; three great-grandchildren, Makaylee Burns, Dakotah Burns, and Kolton Burns; and a sister, Mila Dixon of McCune. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Regina Gaiser. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday (Aug. 25), at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, with Rev. Linda Eads officiating. Burial will follow in the McCune City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, to sign the register book. The family suggests memorials be given to McCune United Methodist Church or Harry Hynes Hospice of Pittsburg. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, Kansas 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
