James William Knowlton b: 28 OCT 1919 in Iowa, USA Mrs. Ira Knowlton who had been so very sick of brights diesease for several months at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bert Chew at Villisca passed away Monday. Sadie Query, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Query was born on a farm north of Nodaway on April 23, 1878 and died at Villisca April 11, 1921, at the age of 42 years, 11 months, and 18 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Nodaway and Villisca where after completing her education she engaged in teaching in which occupation she was usually successful. She spent one year teaching in Colorado and also too up a claim there. She was married to Ira Knowlton on June 27, 1917 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bert Chew at Villisca. They began housekeeping at Scottsbluffs, Nebraska, later moving to Omaha where eighteen months ago a son, James William was born to them. In November of last year, Mrs. Knowlton came to Villisca for a visit with relatives and was taken seriously ill and since that time has been a constant suffer. Besides the husband a son, she is survived by the mother, Mrs. Lavica Carothers of Villisca, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Marie Chew of Villisca, Mrs. Margaret Shearburn of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Ruth Nipper of Omaha, and William of Selma, Montana. Her father preceded her in death about twenty years ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Menoher at the Chew home Tuesday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the Nodaway Cemetery. The deceased leaves many warm friends in this vicinity by whom she will be remembered as a noble christian woman. We join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
