Sara Marjorie (Kountz) Deuel was born on December 14, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Leland Windsor and Grace (Stewart) Kountz. She graduated from East High School in 1944 in Des Moines and attended the University of Iowa from 1944 to 1948. On December 14, 1947, she married Milo W. Sara Marjorie (Kountz) Deuel was born on December 14, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Leland Windsor and Grace (Stewart) Kountz. She graduated from East High School in 1944 in Des Moines and attended the University of Iowa from 1944 to 1948. On December 14, 1947, she married Milo W. Deuel of Cherokee, Iowa, at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Des Moines. Sara and Milo resided in Rock Island, Illinois, and moved to Boone in 1950. Sara was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church and belonged to the St. Catherine's Guild. She was a member of two bridge clubs and the Order of Eastern Star. Her volunteer work included Boone County Hospital, delivering refreshments and working in the gift shop. Additionally, she enjoyed reading weekly to residents at Eastern Star in the 1970's and 1980's. Her hobbies were traveling with her friends and later with her husband, knitting, sewing, and reading. Sara will be remembered for her love and loyalty to family and her desire to always remain connected to her wonderful friends. She had a quick wit and sense of humor, held high principles and values, and was adamant about her opinions on any subject important to her. She was also very kind and sweet to everyone always. Sara worked as a homemaker in Boone and in Deuel Drug Store which she owned with her husband. She devoted her life to her husband and family. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leland S. Kountz of Des Moines, her daughter Sara Beth Deuel Myers of Boone, and her loving husband Milo W. Deuel of Boone. Survivors include her three children, Margie Hedren (John) of Deephaven, Minnesota, Susie Juhl (Edward) of Portland, Maine, Bruce Deuel (Cheryl) of Guernsey, Wyoming; five grandchildren: [names redacted] and five great grandchildren: [names redacted]. The family extends its deep gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Eastern Star Masonic Home who took loving care of both Sara and Milo. Following her wishes, Sara has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Boone. Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday, July 29, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the Church after 10 a.m. Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel \| Boone, IA
