LATTA - Mrs. Sarah Manning Bethea, aged 72, and a most estimable woman, died here last night at 8 o'clock at the residence of her son-in-law, W. C. Parham. Mrs. Bethea is prominently connected with families of both Dillon and Marlboro Counties, being the daughter of Woodward Manning and Sallie Kinney. As a young woman Mrs. Bethea attended Floral College, Maxton, N.C., also Spartanburg College which grew into what is today Converse College. LATTA - Mrs. Sarah Manning Bethea, aged 72, and a most estimable woman, died here last night at 8 o'clock at the residence of her son-in-law, W. C. Parham. Mrs. Bethea is prominently connected with families of both Dillon and Marlboro Counties, being the daughter of Woodward Manning and Sallie Kinney. As a young woman Mrs. Bethea attended Floral College, Maxton, N.C., also Spartanburg College which grew into what is today Converse College. When her college days were over she became the wife of John D. Bethea, also of this place, and of this union the following children survive, Mrs. M. M. McLean, Mrs. W. C. Parham, Miss Leila Bethea, Herbert Bethea and Tom Manning Bethea, all of Latta. Mrs. Bethea had been in declining health for several years, but she had been seriously ill only two weeks, a stroke of paralysis which occurred two weeks ago being the fatal malady. She had been a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and her funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock by her pastor, the Rev. E. C. Bailey, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Parham. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. The flora tributes were unusually pretty and though the weather was bad a great number attended both the funeral and burial services.
