Description	:	The Tipton Advertiser, October 24, 1895 DIED. Sarah C. Beck was born in Holidaysburg, Penna., January 7, 1849. Her parents both died when she was quite young. She then became a member of the family of Geo. W. Smith and move from Williamsburg, Pa. to Tipton in 1856. She was married to Wm. Van Meter September 10, 1867. Two children were born to them, Carrie and Georgie. Carrie May died at the age of four years, and Georgie at the age of eight. Beck was born in Holidaysburg, Penna., January 7, 1849. Her parents both died when she was quite young. She then became a member of the family of Geo. W. Smith and move from Williamsburg, Pa. to Tipton in 1856. She was married to Wm. Van Meter September 10, 1867. Two children were born to them, Carrie and Georgie. Carrie May died at the age of four years, and Georgie at the age of eight. She united with the church in early life and was a consistent member as long as she lived. Mrs. VanMeter was a patient sufferer for eight long, weary months and was confined to her bed the whole time. She was always cheerful and hopeful until the end. She often spoke of death and was willing to go at the Master's call, which took place Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., sweetly falling asleep in Jesus. On Sept 30, previous to her death, she selected the chapter to be read; Job fifth; the text to be used; Psalms twenty-third chapter, first verse; the hymns to be sung at her funeral and also selected her pall bearers, and minister to preach her funeral sermon. Her death as peaceful and without a struggle. Her funeral took place at the Lutheran church, at 10 a.m. Oct. 10th, Rev. A. J. Kissell and C. A. Gelwicks officiating. A large audience of relatives and sympathizing friends were assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to the dead. Her remains were interred at Wright's cemetery, six miles east of Tipton. Mrs. VanMeter was highly esteemed by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished for her many virtues. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord henceforth yea saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
