L. Van Meter, Well Known Former Tiptonite, Summoned The many old home friends in the Tipton community will be sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. W. L. Van Meter, former resident of the city, who passed away December 12th, at his home in Eugene, Oregon. A letter to The Tipton Advertiser this week, written by Mr. J. H. Cossman, a brother-in-law of Mrs. Van Meter, bears the following message: Will write to let you know that Mr. W. L. Van Meter passed on, the 12th day of December. The body was taken to Portland to be cremated on the 14th of December. His ashes will be brought back to Tipton, Iowa, in some future time, as Mrs. Van Meter is not well and under doctor's care. Would like to have you let our friends in Tipton know. Mr. Van Meter's age at his death was 87 years on the 26th of August. He has been ailing for the last three months. J. H.
