Griffin, 89, died Monday Night After Long Illness Mrs. George W. Griffin, 609 5th St S.E., died Monday night at Trinity Hospital where she had been a patient for six days/ Last May she and her husband celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in Jamestown. Funeral services will be announced later by the Eddy Funeral Home where arrangements are being made. The former Sarah Brown was born Aug 1, 1869 in Jackson Township, Boone County, Ia., where she attended school. Following her marriage to Mr. Griffin the couple lived at Boone, Ia., and in 1903 moved to Chanute, Kan., and the following year to Tulsa, Okla., where they remained for a year. In 1905 they took up a homestead one mile north of Gackle, where they resided until 1912 when the moved to Jamestown, where they have since made their home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, a member of Circle 3 of the church, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been in ill health for several months. Surviving are her widower, two sons, George F Griffin, Jamestown, and Ernest Griffin, Moorhead, Minn.; three grandchildren, Capt. Robert Griffin, U.S. Army, Ft. Belvoir, Va.: Richard and Mrs. Don Rehak (Leone) Jamestown, and 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Forest Brown, Mrs. Effie Huey, and Mrs. Mae Wingo, Boone, Ia., and Abbey Brown, Sacramento, Calif. Preceding her in death were a daughter and a son, two brothers and a sister.
