Paul who died in this city on Tuesday of last week and whose remains were laid to rest in the local cemetery last Thanksgiving Day will prove of interest to her friends. Mrs. Emma Paul was the daughter of James and Jemima Crawford. She was born in South Mountain, Ontario, Canada, November 27, 1878 and was the youngest of five children. Early in life she was left an orphan, her mother dying when the baby, Emma, was only five weeks old. At the age of two, she went to make her home with her uncle, Wesley, and with a grandmother, coming with them at that time to Odebolt and locating southeast of town. On March 20, 1901, she was united in marriage with C. A. Paul and lived with him in happiness and contentment up to the time of her death. Five children were born to this union, all of whom are living. She joined the Methodist Church August 4, 1901 and was a consistent Christian woman, devoted to her home and family and loyal to her friends. The closing days of her life were marked by much suffering, but she bore her pains with fortitude and kept up bravely until the end. The sorrowing husband and children have much sympathy. Out of town relatives at the funeral were Will and Frank Story of Enid, Oklahoma, John and James Carhart of Mapleton, Mrs. Payne Sargisson, Luton, Mrs. Brown and son of Lake City, Elmer Mill of Correctionville, Mr. and Mrs. Morrow of Wall Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore of Lake View.
