Description	:	GARRETT, SARAH E.—Sarah E. McPherson Garrett, daughter of John and Rebecca McPherson, was born on a farm near Ft. Scott, Kas., September 2, 1864. She passed away at the Geneva General hospital on April 23, 1956, at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 21 days. McPherson Garrett, daughter of John and Rebecca McPherson, was born on a farm near Ft. Scott, Kas., September 2, 1864. She passed away at the Geneva General hospital on April 23, 1956, at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 21 days. Shortly after her birth she moved with her parents to Fontane, Kas., and in 1876 they moved to Daily, Mich., where her father owned and operated a grist mill. September 29, 1886, at Niles, Mich., she was united in marriage to David E. Garrett, whom she had known since early childhood schooldays. They continued to live in Michigan and owned and operated the grist mill. In 1891, they moved to a farm northeast of Geneva, Neb., where they lived until 1917, at which time they moved to Geneva, where they had made their home since. She united with the Congregational church after moving to Geneva. She was also a charter member of the Madison township club. Prior to her passing, she had been confined to a wheel chair since June of 1949. She always enjoyed very much being with people and was an interested member of her community. Dear to her were her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much happiness. A friendly and cheerful woman, she acquired a host of friends over the years. To this union were born three sons: Harvey B., Hugh M. and John F. Garrett. Hugh Garrett preceded her in death March 11, 1933. She is survived by her husband, David E. Garrett, two sons, Harvey B. and John F. Garrett, all of Geneva, 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Garrett observed their 69th wedding anniversary last September. The funeral was held at the Geneva Congregational church at 2 p. m. Thursday, April 26, Rev. L. E. Werner officiated. Ralph Reemts of Geneva sang, “Beyond the Sunset” and “In the Garden,” accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Richard Brower, David Garrett, Lowell Garrett, Warren Lefever, Jesse Richards and John Wilkins. The Nebraska Signal 3 May 1956 page 3.
