Description	:	GARRETT, JOHN FLOYD—John Floyd Garrett was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garrett. He was born on a farm northeast to Geneva, May 4, 1893. Passing from this life on October 7, 1976, at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, he was 83 years of age. For nearly the last two years he resided at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont. He was united in marriage to Grace... Read More	GARRETT, JOHN FLOYD—John Floyd Garrett was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garrett. He was born on a farm northeast to Geneva, May 4, 1893. Passing from this life on October 7, 1976, at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, he was 83 years of age. For nearly the last two years he resided at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont. He attained his education at rural school district 3 near Geneva. His entire life was spent in Fillmore county with the exception of nearly a year's residence in California. He was united in marriage to Grace B. Frost in Lincoln Nebr., in June 1916. To this union were born six children. John’s greater enjoyments in life were his family and his interest in farming, the occupation he followed until the death of his loving wife in 1943. In 1945 he was employed by the State of Nebraska Department of roads until his retirement in 1962. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Receding him in death were two brothers, Harvey and Hugh; two daughters, Norma Lee and Nancy; two granddaughters, his wife and his parents. Those who cherish his memory are his sons, David of Olympia, Wash., and Lowell of Geneva; daughters, Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) West of Fairmont and Mrs. John (Donna) Wilkins of Geneva; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang, “Life is like a Railway to Heaven” and “Good Night-Good Morning”, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were grandsons: Gary, Michael, Bill R., and Jim L. Wilkins, Douglas West and Dwight West. The funeral service was conducted at the Farmer & Son funeral home of Geneva, with Rev. Neil L. Kettering officiating. Interment was at the Geneva cemetery.
