Description	:	Sarah (Boehr) Regier, 91 July 8, 1923 ~ July 22, 2014 Sarah was born in Henderson, NE on July 8, 1923, to Sarah (Mierau) and Bernhard "Ben" Boehr, Sr. She worked as a registered nurse for 25 years as well as being a farm wife. Sarah enjoyed music, traveling, scrapbooking, and especially her family. She volunteered for Mennonite Disaster Service, Mennonite Central Committee and was active in her local church. Sarah Gladys (Boehr) Regier, 91, of North Newton, KS and lately of Augusta, Kansas, went home to heaven Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas. Her husband, Herman, preceded her in death on July 30, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Elmer, Donald, Melvin and Ben Boehr. Sarah is survived by her children: Leon and Marilyn Regier of Grant, NE; Marilyn and Craig King of Rogers, AR; Dale and Teresa Regier of Abbotsford, B.C.Canada; Larry and Kristi Regier of Buckner, MO; Karen and Terry Deaver of Augusta, KS; a sister, Rachel Hiebner of Henderson, NE; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation Thursday, July 24,6-8 pm at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Funeral services are 10:30 am Friday, July 25, at Koerner Heights Church,320 N. Meridian Rd. Newton, KS, and 1 pm Saturday, July 26 at New Life Fellowship in Grant, NE. Burial will follow at Madrid Cemetery, Madrid, NE. Memorial donations to Koerner Heights Church, Newton, KS. Proverbs 22:6 What a privilege it was for me to have Christian parents. Even though they were active in their own church, they took the family to many other services in the community. I was saved at the age of 10 at a tent meeting in Henderson. The counselor presented the way of salvation so clearly by using John 3:16 and inserting my name. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that if Sarah believes in Him, she shall not perish but have everlasting life." I read Hurlbutt's Story of the Bible many times when a child. Our high school superintendent taught a course entitled "Bible Literature" which was outstanding. For assembly Superintendent H.B. Kliewer usually read out of Proverbs. When I taught country school, each day I read a Bible story to the pupils and we sang hymns. My great love was music but we were too poor for lessons. This matter was committed to the Lord and He answered - not with music lessons, but in HIs own way. Note:Sarah played from memory and could also transpose to other key changes without training. I remember the first song I played in church: Hallelujah! What a Savior! Bearing shame and scoffing rude, In my place condemned He stood. Sealed my pardon with His blood. Guilty, vile and helpless, we: Spotless Lamb of God was He "Full Atonement" can it be? Hallelujah! What a Savior! Lifted up was He to die, "It is finished" was His cry; Now in heav'n exalted high; When He comes our glorious King All His ransomed home to bring, Then anew this song we'll sing Hallelujah! what a Savious! Yes, there were persecutions to come as I entered that great big world beyond my own community. There had been so many opportunities to serve my Lord in my own church: Sunday School, Christian Endeavors, playing for choirs.. I spent one summer in New York as a nurse's aide in a mental institution. I was questioned many times about my faith in Christ and considered a bit queer. But the Lord honored His Word and as promised in the Bible "It will not return unto Me void." While in nurses training, we had such sweet Christian fellowship among us girls but loneliness creeps in nonetheless. One day a letter came from one of my beloved pastors back home, Rev. John F. Epp. He encouraged me in my Christian walk. When employed at the York, Nebraska hospital just before marriage and later at the Grant, Nebraska hospital, there were so many opportunities to make Christ known. Again there were was sweet fellowship in the Word with other Christian employees. Coming to the Madrid community after marriage to Herman, again there were many opportunities to serve in the church. Being busy with family, farming and nursing, how many times I wished I had more time for Bible study. Now I have the time to sit down without feeling guilty. Through our many travels Herman and I desire to be used by the Lord in witnessing. When the Mennonite Church at Madrid closed its doors, we eventually joined this church. New Life Fellowship Mennonite Brethren Church, Grant, Nebraska. We praise the Lord that the Word is presented clearly and that others are accepting Christ. The Christian fellowship is sweet. Philippians 3:13 and 14 out of the Living Bible states: "No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us." --written by Sarah Regier Memories from a niece Aunt Sarah is my dad's sister. She and Uncle Herman lived on a farm near Madrid, NE. Uncle Herman passed away in 2006 when they were living in Newton, Kansas, after they retired. Back in the 1950's, when my family went to Colorado for vacation, we always stopped in at their house, because it was along the way. We would usually spend the night there and they always welcomed us! I remember all of us going to church with them. Aunt Sarah was a very talented pianist (she played by ear) and she could also play the marimba very well. She and her sister, Rachel, would play duets together on the piano. One summer when we had a family get together at Grandma and Grandpa Boehr's house in Henderson, NE, and I remember Aunt Sarah brought this beautiful angel food cake that had green frosting, coconut and jelly beans on top for decoration! I was beside myself just waiting for the chance to have a piece!!
