Sarah Jane Songster Hunt was born Oct. 25 1861, near Ten Mile, Washington county, Penn. and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Kranda, July 18, 1946, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was the oldest child of William and Priscilla Songster, a family of three daughters and four sons. She came with her parents to Fillmore county March 15 1877, where they made their home two and one-half miles south of Exeter, and with the exception of 12 years spent at Wright, Kansas was a resident of the county ever since. As a young girl she united with the Baptists Federated with the Congregational church she united with that church and held he membership there at the time of her death. On April 5, 1881, she was united in marriage to William Hunt, who preceded her in death in January of 1925. After their marriage they made their home on Mr. Hunt's homestead three mile west of Exeter and this continued to be their home with the exception the years spent in Kansas. Mr and Mrs. Hunt were the parents of three sons and eight daughters. Two daughters, Gertrude and Winifred, died in infancy. Mrs. Hunt had been very active for her age, doing her own work until the past two years when she has spent most of her time with her children. Funeral services Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Emil T. Pietz. Burial was in the Exeter cemetery.
