Ocheltree, wife of Rob't K. Ocheltree, aged 44 years and 6 days. Deceased was born in Bedford, Co., Penn., July 31, 1843, and was the daughter of David and Cordelia Wertz. In 1855 the family came to Tipton, which place became her future home. July 12, 1863, she was married to Robt. K. Ocheltree and proved a helpful and faithful wife and companion through the twenty-four years of wedded life. She was the mother of seven children, four sons and three daughters--one daughter dying in infancy. Six children remain to mourn their irreparable loss. The deceased was widely and favorably known to a large circle of acquaintances, having lived in this vicinity since she was twelve years old, and the friendships formed during this period were exceptionally pleasant and abiding. In all her relations and wherever known she was held in the highest esteem for her uniform kindness, gentleness of disposition, sweet and serene patience, and all those pure and womanly qualities of heart and character which were so strikingly portrayed in her daily life. But it was in her home life that her sterling virtues and worth appeared most conspicuously. Here she was supreme in all kindly thoughtful, and loving ministries and assiduities. She was a faithful and exemplary wife, an affectionate and devoted mother, moving in that exalted sphere, discharging those sacred trusts which are the crowning glory of woman--true, noble motherhood. The influence of her life will remain long after the grass has grown green and the flowers loving hands have planted shall continue to blossom above her grave. Although not associated with any christian church she was always thoughtful, respectful and reverent toward all that was sacred, pure and good. In the closing days of her life she gave thought and attention especially to her spiritual needs and welfare, confessed her dependence upon Christ and faith in Him as her only Savior and hope, and died in peace with God. The funeral services were held in a beautiful grove in front of the family residence, Sunday P.M., the 7th inst. at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. G. Brande, pastor of the Congregational church, Tipton. Appropriate music was furnished by the choir of the Lutheran church, Tipton. Scripture lessons were read, words of admonition and comfort were spoken, prayers were offered, the last farewell of earth was taken and the remains were borne to the Masonic cemetery, followed by a large procession of sympathizing neighbors and acquaintances.
