Peter and Paul's church here for Mrs. John Kehrer of Cedar Rapids, the former Sarah Jane Staak of Carroll. Mrs. Kehrer, the last member of the family of August and Catherine Staak, Carroll pioneers, died at her home in Cedar Rapids at 7 a.m. Saturday. She succumbed to a heart condition after being in ill health several years. The Rev. Fr. Lambert Schenkelberg will offer the requiem mass at the final rites. He will also lead the rosary at 8 o'clock tonight at the Sharp Funeral home, where the body was taken on arrival in Carroll early this afternoon. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery. Mrs. Kehrer had lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Simons (Louise) in Cedar Rapids the last four years. Her husband preceded her in death. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Kehrer leaves three sons, Paul, August and Joseph, all of whom live in California. Mr. and Mrs. Simons and family accompanied the body here. Joseph Kehrer of Stockton, Calif., is also coming for the rites. June 8, 1949 - Carroll Daily Times - Funeral services were conducted yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at Ss. Peter and Paul's church here for Mrs. Sarah Jane Kehrer of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Carroll. Mrs. Kehrer, widow of John Kehrer, died at her home in Cedar Rapids at 7 o'clock Saturday morning. The Rev. Fr. Otmar Koester offered the requiem mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers, cousins of Mrs. Kehrer, were: Vincent Collison, Leo Collison, Jim Collison, Arthur Collison, Charles Collison, and Edward Wieland. Attending the rites from away were: Mrs. Kehrers son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Simons, and children: Kathryn and Jimmy, Cedar Rapids; her sons, Gus Kehrer, Yreka, Calif.; and Joe Kehrer, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. J.C. Staak and daughters, Catherine and Helen, Oskaloosa; Mr and Mrs Ray Yegge and daughter, Will Collison, and Catherine Yegge, of Boone; Richard Selzer of Cedar Rapids; and Mr and Mrs Vincent Collison of Arcadia. Mrs Kehrer, 73, was born at Papineau, Illinois, a daughter of August and Catherine Staak. She spent her girlhood in Carroll and married Mr Kahrer in Ss. Peter and Paul's church here. After her marriage, she lived at Port Jones, Calif., until eight years ago. Since then she had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Simons. They resided in Clinton and Chicago before moving to Cedar Rapids four years ago. Mrs. Kehrer was the last member of the Staak family. A brother, J.C. Staak died at Oskaloosa this spring. Her surviving children are: Paul, Quincy, Calif.; Gus, Yreka, Calif.; Joe, Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Simons (Louise), Cedar Rapids. She also leaves four grandchildren. Cedar Rapids Gazette - Saturday , June 4th, 1949 - Sarah Jane Kehrer, 73, who had been making her home the last several years with her daughter, Mrs. Leo Simons, 608 Eighteenth street SE, died Saturday at her home. Born July 30, 1875, at Papineau, IL., she came to Cedar Rapids from Wisconsin. She spent most of her life in Fort Jones, Calif. She was a member of Immaculate Conception church in Cedar Rapids. Surviving besides her daughter are three sons, Gus Kehrer of Eureka, Calif., Paul Kehrer of Quincy, Calif., and Joseph Kehrer of Stockton, Calif., and four grandchildren. Services will be conducted in St. Peter and Paul church in Carroll. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul cemetery there. Friends may call at the Teahen chapel in Cedar Rapids, where the Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John M. Molloy.
