Leake of Olympia; Misses Jessie and Mattie Morrow of this place and Elwood and Charley Morrow, also of Aberdeen. The entire family accompanied the remains to Shelton yesterday morning. -------------------- OBIT 2: Word came from Aberdeen on Monday evening of the death of Mrs. Sarah J. Morrow, one of the earliest residents of this county, widely known and with many friends in this vicinity. It is known here that she had been in failing health for several years past, but with her active habits and strong will she never gave in to the inevitable until forced. Her death came on Sunday and the remains were brought to Shelton on Tuesday, the funeral taking place from the Baptist Church on Wednesday forenoon, Rev. J. C. Dorwin preaching an affecting sermon. The remains were followed to the grave, beside her husband, long gone before, in the Masonic Cemetery, by a number of old-time friends who learned of her death on the short notice given. Sarah Jane Morrow as the daughter of Alfred and Ann Wyatt, who crossed the plains and settled with their children at Oakland, then the only hamlet in this section. She was born in Hopkinsville, Ky., December 3, 1848, and was married to William T. Morrow in 1865, he dying in 1888, leaving to the widow a family of seven young children, which she has right nobly raised and educated to responsible placed in life. She remained in Shelton until eleven years ago, when conditions seemed better on the Harbor and she moved there. There are two sons and four daughters living, Mrs. Charles Leake and Mrs. Thomas McLarty of Olympia; Misses Mattie and Jessie and Elwood and Charles Morrow who remained with their mother. Older residents will concur in the sentiment expressed by the children: "Mother, your children are deeply grateful for your heroic courage and faithfulness, as single handed you fought life's battles for them until they were grown to man and womanhood. We regret that conditions will not now admit of more extended notice of this plain but noble pioneer woman."
