Description	:	Miss Jessie Morrow, granddaughter of the founder of Oakland and first auditor of Mason County, died today at the home in Seattle where she and her sister Mattie had lived for the past eleven years. The funeral service will be held at the Masonic Temple in Shelton next Sunday at 1:30 p.m., under auspices of Fern chapter, Tacoma and the local chapter of Eastern Star. Read More	Miss Jessie Morrow, granddaughter of the founder of Oakland and first auditor of Mason County, died today at the home in Seattle where she and her sister Mattie had lived for the past eleven years. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in the family plot beside the grave of a sister, Mrs. Bertha McLarty, who died last year. The deceased was born in Olympia, January 23, 1884 and was in her 46th year. The following year the family moved to Shelton and conducted a boarding house at the Point which was continued for several years after the death of the father, W. T. Morrow. In the early ‘90s the family moved to Aberdeen, and with the death of Mrs. Morrow, the children scattered to homes of their own, the daughters Jessie and Mattie living for some years in Tacoma before moving to Seattle to be near another sister, Mrs. Charles Leake. The original family came across the plains in 1854 and settled at Oakland where William M. Morrow, the grandfather, cleared a tract of land and planted the old fruit trees with seed brought from Iowa. He was the first preacher in the county of the Baptist faith and the first auditor and also severed in the legislature. The old home property was taken up as a donation claim and in the early ‘60s was sold to Mark Fredson, the Morrows moving to Scio, Ore., where they lived until early in 1880 when they returned to Olympia. Jessie Morrow is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Charles Leake and Miss Mattie Morrow of Seattle and two brothers, Elwood and Charles of Aberdeen.
