Thank you. Lake City Graphic. Lake City, Calhoun Co. IA: 5 Jan 1911: OBITUARY: SARAH LAWRENCE was born in Gambier, Ohio, Oct. 19, 1841. She was married to Daniel Lloyd Fobes, Dec. 4, 1862. In September, 1863 the family came to the old home near Lake City; where Mr. Fobes died in 1901. The family afterward moved to Lake City, Iowa, where Mother Fobes passed to her reward Dec. 31, 1910, aged 69 year, 2 months, 15 days. One sister Mrs. Margaret Jacobs of this city and one brother, George Lawrence, of Seguin (sic), Wash. survive. The following children grew to manhood and womanhood to repay with care and devotion the love of a good mother: Mrs. Alice Cleverdon, of Viking, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Ida Cochran, Lake City, Iowa; Mrs Kathryn Nicholas, Albion, Iowa; Dr. Fobes, Auburn, Iowa; Edwin, Parma, Idaho; Howard, Bathgate, Alberta; Anna of Lake City and Fannie who preceded her mother to the Blessed Country in 1969. All the living children were present at the funeral. Edwin and wife came from Idaho three weeks ago to assist in caring for their mother. Miss Anna and Mr. and Mrs. Cochran were constantly with their mother, and Dr. Fobes and wife of Auburn were unwearying in their care, Mrs. Nicholas arrived from Albion and Howard from Alberta before the end came, but Mrs. Cleverdon did not arrive from her far home until after her mother had passed away. It is not often that a mother, full of years, is blest with the love and attention, in her last days, of seven living children. They will cherish as one of the sweet memories of life the opportunity of caring for their mother. Her last days were thus made as easy as the love and care of her children who could reach her bedside, could make them. Mrs. Fobes had been failing for some time but her health became gravely impaired about six weeks ago. After that she failed rapidly. At the age of thirteen she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Gambier, Ohio. She was for many years a member of Cottonwood Church and afterward of Trinity Church of this city. She was a woman of unfailing Christian faith and life. She leaves a blessed memory. The funeral was from Trinity Church Monday, Jan. 2, at 1 p m. the pastor of the Church, Rev. Burns, assisted by Rev. Lee a former pastor and friend of the family officiated. There were many beautiful floral remembrances from the children, the church and friends.
