The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sarah was born July 31, 1936 at Washta, Iowa to William and Dora (Carver) Roepke. She graduated from Washta High School in 1955. She attended Wayne State College and Buena Vista College, receiving her teaching certificate in 1957. She was married to Roger Fuhrman on June 15, 1957 at the Meadow Star Methodist Church, rural Washta, Iowa. She taught school in Quimby and Meriden schools until devoting all her time to her family. Her home was on a farm in Sheridan Township, having been a resident of Cherokee County all her life. She was the tie that bound the family's farming operation together. She was a member of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church, the Ruth Circle of the Ladies Friendship Guild of which she had served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Circle Leader. She had received the Honorary Christian Education Pin from the Friendship Guild. She was a very faithful and conscientious worker in her Church. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years and enjoyed teaching the children. She and her husband were charter members of the Mariners Club of the Church which was established in 1958. She was a former 4-H leader and along with her husband were former directors of the Cherokee County Pork Producers representing Sheridan Township. She was preceded in death by her father William Roepke and her father-in-law Clarence Fuhrman. She is survived by her husband Roger, and three sons: Alan Fuhrman and his wife Pamela of Springfield, Missouri; Jay Fuhrman of Cleghorn and Jon Fuhrman of Cleghorn; her mother, Mrs. Dora Roepke of Correctionville, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Alice Fuhrman of Cleghom, Iowa; two brothers and one sister: Wayne and Rosemary Roepke of Cherokee; Melvin and Darlene Roepke of Washta, Iowa; and Mary and Gordon Sorensen of Galva, Iowa.
