Mr. and Mrs. Casburn were married in London, England, August 8th, 1878, and in 1879 came to America and settled at Milton, Pike County, Illinois, where they remained until September, 1884, when the family moved to Nebraska and lived in this vicinity until December 1896, when they returned to their former home in Illinois, and there remained until August 5, 1903, when they returned to the vicinity... Read More	Sarah Pate Casburn was born in Little Douham, Isle of Elly, Cambridgeshire, England, January 5, 1844, and died in Fairmont, Nebraska, March 26, 1904, aged sixty years, two months and twenty days. Mr. and Mrs. Casburn were married in London, England, August 8th, 1878, and in 1879 came to America and settled at Milton, Pike County, Illinois, where they remained until September, 1884, when the family moved to Nebraska and lived in this vicinity until December 1896, when they returned to their former home in Illinois, and there remained until August 5, 1903, when they returned to the vicinity of Fairmont and since December 1, have resided within the city limits. Mrs. Casburn had been, for many years a sufferer from defective sight, the last few years being almost totally blind. For several years she was also a sufferer from diabetes, which took on an acute form Friday morning, March 25th, and resulted in her death the following night. At the age of fifteen, she was confirmed a member of the Episcopal Church in Elly Cathedral, England. After coming to Nebraska, she united with the Congregational Church of this city, of which she was a respected member at the time of her death and from which she was buried Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, Rev. C.H. Beaver conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Ira M. McConaughy of the Presbyterian Church. The deceased leaves in this country her husband, Lofts Casburn, and one son, Harold; a nephew, George Soles, also two sisters and a number of relatives in England. Mrs. Casburn evidenced the elements of Christian patience throughout her years of suffering. By those who knew her as a neighbor and friend, she held the much desired place of a noble good woman. The floral tributes that decked her coffin bore evidence of the esteem of the deceased and her family. Prominent among the floral designs were the pieces from "The Old Neighbors," the "I.O.O.F.," the "A.O.U.W." and the employees of the husband of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the Fairmont Cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of neighbors and friends. The Fillmore Chronicle (Fairmont) April 1st, 1904 page 1.
