Black, of consumption, aged 64 years, 4 months and 12 days, at her home on east Vine street, on March 23 at 11 o'clock p.m. Again it is the sad duty of this paper to chronicle the death of an old resident of this city, a good Christian woman, mother and wife. Mrs. Black was born in Lincolnshire, England, Nov. 11, 1824, and with her parents came to this country and settled at Mansfield, Ohio. Here she was married to Dr. Geo. H. Black, Oct. 22, 1843. Mr. and Mrs. Black came to Nebraska in 1861, and have since been respected residents of this city. Mrs. Black's parents name was Buttery. Mrs. Hannah Buttery followed her daughter to this state a few years later, on the death of Mr. Buttery. MRs. Black was taken with consumption last November and since then her strength has constantly failed. About a month ago her mother took her departure from this world, at the age of 92 years, and she was just able to bear the affliction to attend the funeral, and Saturday night she gave out her own life to be with the departed. Mr. and Mrs. Black were the parents of four children, three of whom still live to comfort their father in his bereavement. Their eldest child, a daughter, was buried before leaving Ohio. The other three, Mrs. C. F. Smith, Chas. E. Black and F. H. Black are well known in this city. Deceased was buried this afternoon at Oak Hill cemetery. The funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. B. Alexander of the M. E. church officiated. The Plattsmouth Daily Herald, March 25, 1889
