Graham was born in Dumphreys, West Canada, October 17, 1827 and was therefore 85 years, 3 months, and 21 days old at the time of her death She grew to womanhood in her Canadian home, where she was married to Benjamin Doan, October 17, 1847. SARAH DOAN DEAD Mrs. Sarah Doan died at the home of her son, J. B. Doan at Russell, Iowa, Saturday, February 8, 1913 of heart trouble. Sarah R. Graham was born in Dumphreys, West Canada, October 17, 1827 and was therefore 85 years, 3 months, and 21 days old at the time of her death She grew to womanhood in her Canadian home, where she was married to Benjamin Doan, October 17, 1847. Two years later they moved to Monroe County, Iowa, and in 1874 they moved to Montgomery County, going on a farm near Sciola, living there until the death of her husband, twenty-eight years ago. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Doan had made her home with her children. Deceased was the mother of nine children, five sons and four daughters. They are C. R. Doan of Villisca, Mrs. L. M. Black of Hollister, California, J. B. Doan of Russell, Iowa, Edgar Doan of California, Mrs. Frank Bates, Sciola, and Mrs. Mariah Shoemaker, living in Nebraska. Mrs. Doan united with the Christian Church in Albia, Iowa in 1898, and remained a faithful member and a true Christian the remainder of her days. She was always in attendance at the church services when her health permitted. The remains arrived here on passenger train No. 4, Monday and were taken to Sciola where the funeral was held at half past three o’clock the dame afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. O. W. Winter, pastor of the Baptist Disciple Church in Villisca. Interment was in the Sciola Cemetery by the side of her husband. Villisca Review, Villisca, Iowa, Thursday, February 13, 1913, page 5
