Sarah, the daughter of George and Aley Henderson Simmermaker, was born July 11,1853, and lived practically her entire life in this community. She was married March 7, 1872 to Romeo Tracht and eight children were born to them . They started housekeeping on a farm northeast of Tipton, but shortly afterwards moved to the western part of the state where they remained about three years. Sarah, the daughter of George and Aley Henderson Simmermaker, was born July 11,1853, and lived practically her entire life in this community. She was married March 7, 1872 to Romeo Tracht and eight children were born to them . They started housekeeping on a farm northeast of Tipton, but shortly afterwards moved to the western part of the state where they remained about three years. Returning to the vicinity of Tipton, they continued to be tillers of the soil, until some twelve years ago, when they removed to Tipton. Mrs. Tracht was taken to a hospital in September, 1912, for a surgical operation, and since that time has undergone seven. It was believed that the last one reached the seat of her disease, but her vitality was too low to stand the operative shock, and she fell asleep in Rochester, Minn., last Sunday afternoon, May 21, aged only 62 years, 10 months and 10 days. Two of the children have passed on before, George Edwin, and Ida. Those who remain are, Alvin Berton, Arthur A., Sumner W., Omer, Samuel D., and Everett. She was a woman who tried to do her duty and leaves a large circle of friends. She tried to go before her children in the way of life, and was a ready helpmate to her husband. She was a Christian, having united with the Reformed church at Hebron in early girlhood, afterward transferring her membership to the church in Tipton. She died in the faith in which she lived and, we know, is now at rest, "Servant of God, well done. Thy glorious warfare's past, Thy battle's fought, the race is won, And thou art crowned at last." The funeral services were held from The Reformed church on Wednesday afternoon and were very largely attended, and the flowers were most beautiful, showing she had not been forgotten by her friends during her sickness. Interment was made in the family lot in the Hebron cemetery, the closing service being held by the Women's Relief Corps, of which she was an honored member.
