Sarah Sophie Brown was born June 1, 1910 in Boyd County, NE to Fred and Kathrina (Katie Wuest) Schochenmaier. At the age of 97 years, 8 months, Sarah passed away on Friday, Feb 29th, 2008 at West Holt Memorial Hospital. She was the oldest of 10 children. She attended country school near the farm where she grew up. She helped on the farm and worked for the surrounding neighbors. She loved to ride her horse at a fast pace. She talked about how her family would take the team and wagon to Fairfax to church and then go to her grandmothers for Sunday dinner. She married Adolph Klein on March 30, 1934 in Fairfax, SD. From this union 6 children were born. They lived on various farms in the Naper and Bonesteel area. They retired to Bonesteel in June of 1964. Adolph passed away April, 1966. At this point of her life she learned how to drive a car and drove until she was 93. They enjoyed going to the neighbors and relatives to visit. Sarah was a cook at the Bonesteel School until 1970. She married Adolph Trautman on February 9th, 1970 and moved to Hartington, NE. They loved to go fishing and drive through the country side. They loved to garden and take care of their flowers together. Adolph passed away in 1977 and Sarah moved to Fairfax, SD. On December 2, 1983 she was united in marriage to Jim Brown and moved to Bassett, NE. Together they enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, taking short trips, playing cribbage and cards. Jim passed away in 1987 and Sarah moved to O'Neill, NE. Sarah loved being with her lady friends and playing cards. She enjoyed going to lunch after church with friends and family. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Rebecca Lodge. Her family was very important to her and loved having them around. She loved telling stories about her earlier days. She is survived by daughters; daughter-in-law; 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 14 step children, 40+ step-children, and 20+ step-great grandchildren. Sisters; Brothers; Sisters-in-law; Trautman step-children; Brown stepchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Fred and Katie Schochenmaier, Husbands; Adolph Klien, Adolph Trautman, and Jim Brown. Daughter Dona Louise Klein. Son; Lyle Klein, Grandson; Donny Boes. Great-grandson; Kent Kilmurry. Great-granddaughter; Haleigh Babl. Trautman step-children; Kenneth Trautmann. Brown step-children; Clea Brown. Brothers; Edmond, Albert, Henry, Herman, and Raymond Schochenmaier. You can see with the numbers Sarah had touched the lives of many. Her wisdom and laughter will be missed by all her family, friends, and neighbors. One of her favorite sayings was " you should always get along."
