Read More	Final Rites Held For Patrick Foley Large Number Pay Tribute To Citizen Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Patrick's church at Akron for Patrick A. Foley, well known Plymouth county resident, who died unexpectedly April 6 at Victorville while returning from California where he spent the winter, to his home in Akron. The funeral was one of the most largely attended ever held in Akron the edifice being entirely inadequate in size to accommodate all who assembled to pay a last tribute of respect. Rev. Father Chas. Ernst, of Akron, was celebrant of the requiem mass, assisted by Rev. Father Casey, of Denison, Iowa, deacon; Rev. Father Marx, of Kingsley, sub-deacon, and Rev. Father Hurley, of Marcus, master of ceremonies. Rev. Father Cooper, of Le Mars, presided in the sanctuary. Rev. Father Ernst gave the sermon. Members of Hoschler Post, American Legion, of which Mr. Foley was adjutant at the time of his death, attended the services in a body and carried out the Legion ritual service at the graveside. There was a salute by the firing squad and the bugler sounded taps. A large concourse followed the remains from the church to the Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were J. Henry Lucken, Dr. Geo. Mattison, Steve Gant, Wm. Halvorsen, J. J. Arkin and Alvin Manning, Born Near Adaville Patrick Anthony Foley, son of Michael and Margaret Foley, was born August 1, 1886, on a farm near Adaville, in Plymouth county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He attended the rural schools and in 1902 enrolled for a course in the National business training school at Sioux City. After the death of his father in 1906, he, with his mother and brothers, went to Akron to reside. Mr. Foley took a position as bookkeeper in the First National Bank of Akron in April, 1908, and remained in the employ of that institution until soon after the United States entered the World war. On May 7, 1917, he enlisted in the 109th Sanitary train field hospital section at Sioux City and was transferred to Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico, and receive his discharge, as a sergeant, November 2, 1918. Returning to Akron, upon the death of his brother, Thomas, he went to Miller, S, D., to take charge of the Foley & Ross business there. He filed on a homestead near Faith, S. D., in 1910, and lived on it the required length of time. He resided with and cared for his mother, Mrs. Margaret Foley, several years, before her death in Akron on March 5, 1929. Trip To Ireland Mr. Foley was united in marriage with Miss Bess Mary Carol on March 5, 1035, at Le Mars, Iowa. They have made Akron their home, although traveling quite extensively, taking a trip to Ireland and England about two years ago. Their married life has been a most happy one, and the sudden taking away of her beloved companion is sad and distressing. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Michael Foley, of Akron, and James Foley, of Mankato, Minn., three sisters, Mrs, James Gale, of Beresford, S. D.; Mrs. Margaret Byrnes, of Akron, and Mrs. Wm. Welch, of Westfield, Iowa, besides many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stephen and Thomas Foley, and three sisters, Ellen Foley and Mrs. Rose Hoffman and Mrs. Bridget Hoffman. Honorable and upright in all his dealings, of kind and genial nature, with a keen sense of humor and native wit, he gained a host of friends who valued him for his true worth.
