Sharon Rae Martin was born on September 1, 1936 in rural Hamilton County, Iowa to Floyd E. and Eva R. (Griffith) Martin. Sharon Rae Martin was born on September 1, 1936 in rural Hamilton County, Iowa to Floyd E. and Eva R. (Griffith) Martin. Sharon graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1954 and on November 13, of that same year, she married Francis Hosey Hoshaw in Des Moines, Iowa. Sharon loved fishing in her younger years, doing puzzles in her latter years, but spending time with her family was always her true love. Her parents, step-father Ernest Caruth, step-mother Ethyl Martin, and brothers Roy and Cecil Martin preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Francis Hosey Hoshaw; children Kim (Larry) Runyan of Stratford, Randy Hoshaw and special friend Renate Hippen of Ames, Iowa, Jan Hoshaw (Doug Bergman) of Stratford, and Steve (Jamie) Hoshaw of Sac City, Iowa; grandchildren Jason Runyan of Story City, Jeremy (Pete) Runyan of Stratford, Collin and Graham Hoshaw of Polk City, Janson Bergman of Stratford and Maddisen Hoshaw of Sac City; great-grandchildren Mikayla Hennigar of Clarion, Kirstin Runyan of Mitchellville and Zach and Carsen Johnson of Stratford; a sister Betty Anderson of Spencer, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Sandy Martin of Kountze, Texas. Following Sharon's wishes, her body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday afternoon, September 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Reverends Dot Hasler and Gina Spohnheimer officiating. A late lunch will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the family at P.O. Box 288, Stratford, Iowa 50249.
