Description	:	Shirley Elaine Cheever, 72, of rural Denver, Iowa, died on October 13, 2009 at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly, Iowa. Shirley was born November 17, 1936 in Denver, Iowa, the daughter of Lavern and Julia (Gugenbuel) Kehe. She attended country school at Maxfield Township, rural Denver. She graduated from Denver High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to John Cheever on October 19, 1958 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Denver. John and Shirley started farming in 1959, while farming, they also raised exotic birds. They also coordinated the Bird Swap in Waverly for 20 years. She enjoyed dancing, gathering... Read More	Shirley Elaine Cheever, 72, of rural Denver, Iowa, died on October 13, 2009 at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly, Iowa. Shirley was born November 17, 1936 in Denver, Iowa, the daughter of Lavern and Julia (Gugenbuel) Kehe. She attended country school at Maxfield Township, rural Denver. She graduated from Denver High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to John Cheever on October 19, 1958 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Denver. John and Shirley started farming in 1959, while farming, they also raised exotic birds. They also coordinated the Bird Swap in Waverly for 20 years. She enjoyed dancing, gathering together with friends at McDonald's, Pizza Ranch and the Chuckwagon. She cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her husband, John of rural Denver, Iowa; three sons, Michael Cheever of Denver, Iowa; David Cheever and his wife, Trina of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Alan Cheever and his wife, Jennifer of Waverly, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brandon Cheever, Alaina Cheever, Emily Cheever, Jared Cheever, Elijah Cheever and Molly Cheever; one sister, Marlyn Wolter and her husband, Robert of Denver, Iowa; and one brother, Kenneth Kehe and his wife, Cindy of Denver, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Stanley Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 am, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Denver. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver and also for one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com
