Shirley Mae Elizabeth [Britt] Meyers, age 78, was born September 15, 1929 at Council Bluffs, Iowa to Oscar Pearl and Lucinda Fayette [Haines] Britt. She went to be with her Lord on April 29, 2008 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Shirley graduated from Colfax High School in 1948. They were blessed with four children: Jerry, Joyce, Susan, and Lori. In December 1953 they moved to their current farm near Pleasanton. Shirley was a homemaker, but over the years also worked at Leon Care Center, Westview Acres, and for Decatur Medical Services in Leon. Shirley raised a big garden. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire on the computer. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother George Britt; and sisters Beulah Sholley and Betty Jean Britt. Survivors include her husband Junior Meyers of Davis City, Iowa; children: Jerry Meyers and friend Joy Wallace, both of Davis City; Joyce Meyers of Davis City; Susan Halverson and husband Mike of Iola, Kansas; and Lori Foreman and fiance Randy Proksel of Bellevue, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Drew and wife Sarah, Eric, and Amanda Halverson and Alex and Nate Foreman; sister Helen Britt of Davis City; brothers Tom Britt of Thayer, Iowa and Glen Britt of Colfax, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
