Description	:	Shirley M. (Evans) Bond (1943 - 1997) Shirley M. Evans was born June 20, 1943, the daughter of Glen and Lydia Christman Evens (sic). She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Saturday, May 3, 1997 at the age of fifty-three. Shirley was born in Ida Grove and received her education in the Schleswig Community Schools graduating from high school there in 1961. Read More	Shirley M. (Evans) Bond (1943 - 1997) Shirley M. Evans was born June 20, 1943, the daughter of Glen and Lydia Christman Evens (sic). She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Saturday, May 3, 1997 at the age of fifty-three. Shirley was born in Ida Grove and received her education in the Schleswig Community Schools graduating from high school there in 1961. After completing her education, she was employed by the Peters Drug Store for nearly a year. In July of 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to Ronald Bond in Ida Grove, Iowa, The couple settled in Schleswig and began their family of four children. In the late 60's, the family moved to eastern Iowa where they remained until the early 80's when they moved to Michigan. In July of 1996, Shirley moved to Dow City where she could be close to her family and live with her sister Millie Malone. In her leisure time, Shirley enjoyed her children and grandchildren, she played the piano and wrote columns for taxidermy periodicals and ethnic journals namely periodicals concerning middle eastern music and dance in which she made her dance costumes herself and from her own designs. Additionally, she enjoyed animals and cared for her cat Kelli and a pet squirrel, Alvin. She also enjoyed collecting brass ornaments and was involved in various self taught computer skills. She was self employed in an exotic rug making business and was involved with crafting rugs for various professional hunters around the country. Her credits include zebra, bear and lion skin rugs and won a blue ribbon for one of her bear skin rugs. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, in 198; one infant daughter; four brothers, Bob Evans, Virgil, Richard and Norman Wehner. Survivors include her mother, Lydia, Mrs. Glen Evans; one daughter, Lisa Bond and her husband, Dan Bresien of Elkhart, Indiana and three sons, Bill Bond and his wife, Leanna of Union, Michigan, John Bond also of Union and James Bond and his wife, Kelly of Elkhart, eight grandchildren two brothers, Don Evans and his wife, Mania of Petersburg, Virginia Jerry Miller and his wife, Mildred of Odebolt, Iowa three sisters, Marie Bilsten and her husband, Max of Denison; Ina Knop and her husband, Julius of Denison; and Millie Malone of Dow City, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 6, 1997 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Gordon Hoyt officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Dorothy Jessen provided the organ accompaniment for vocalists Ruble Kastner and Paul Bilsten singing "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "In the Garden" and "Tears in Heaven". Honorary Pallbearers were Natasha Bond, Nicholas Bond, Autumn Bond, Timothy Bond, Jake Bond, John Bond, Tyler Bond and Josh Bond. Pallbearers were: Eugene Friedrichsen, Dave Van Arsdol, Glenn Malone, Mike Wehner, David Bilsten and Paul Bilsten. A Monday Prayer Service was held at 7 P.M., Monday, May 5,1997 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Women's Guild.
