Description	:	Lydia Barbara Christman Evans was born January 11, 1906, the daughter of Conrad and Rose Heuther Christman. She died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa at the age of ninety-seven. Lydia's parents, who were of German descent, migrated from Odessa, Russia and settled in Bridgewater, South Dakota were Lydia was born. Read More	Lydia Barbara Christman Evans was born January 11, 1906, the daughter of Conrad and Rose Heuther Christman. She died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa at the age of ninety-seven. Lydia's parents, who were of German descent, migrated from Odessa, Russia and settled in Bridgewater, South Dakota were Lydia was born. She was baptized in Christ at Plum Creek Church and attended elementary school in Bridgewater. Lydia was married to Tony Wehner and they were blessed with the birth of four sons, Norman, Jackie, Virgil, and Richard. Later, she married Andrew Miller and they were blessed with the birth of one son, Gerald Ralph. On April 3, 1937 Lydia married Robert Glenn Evans, who had four children, Robert, Donald, Marie and Ina. Lydia and Robert were married in Allexandria, South Dakota. They made their home in Ida Grove, Iowa until 1945, when they moved to Schleswig. Two daughters, Millie and Shirley were born to this union. Lydia loved embroidering, crocheting, gardening and walking. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and an active member of their Women's Guild. She was also active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Tony, Andrew and Robert; five sons, Jackie in early childhood, Norman, Virgil, Richard and Robert; two daughters, Marie arid Shirley; five brothers, Carl, Fred, Emil, Gottlieb and Conrad; four sisters, Rose, Annette, Lillian and Erma. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Miller and his wife, Mildred of Odebolt; Donald Evans and his wife, Maria of Petersburg, Virginia; two daughters, Millie Lill and her husband, Jaan of Dow City; Ina Knop of Denison; forty grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, November 3, 2003 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Organist Wendy Bumann provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Rubie Kastner as she sang "How Great Thou Art", and for the congregational hymn "In the Garden". Those serving as pallbearers were: Michael Wehner, Henry DeMann, Lyle Fleshner, Charles Campbell, David Bilsten, and Jaan Lill. The family invited everyone in attendance to return to the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Women's Guild.
