Description	:	Shirley Rae (Howard) Palmer, 72 of Tipton, died Nov. 5, 2007, at Legacy Gardens in Iowa City due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Tipton and will be officiated by Pastor Paul Frederiksen. Burial will be at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Palmer of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Mike Morrow, Erik Morrow, Kristin Palmer, Matt Morrow, Amber Phelps, Joe Collinson, Scott Palmer, Adreanne Collinson and Brian Palmer; great-grandchildren, Miranda Morrow, Stormy Bauwens, Kaben Morrow and Alyssa Rothman; a sister, Rosemary (Mrs. Robert) Wertzbaugher of Atalissa; and a brother, Keith (Vivian) Howard of West Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Nola Howard; a son-in-law, Michael Craig Morrow; and her mother and father-in-law, William and Ursela Palmer. She was born July 1, 1935, in Cedar County, Iowa in Cass Township, to Russell Clarke Howard and Nola Marie Achenbach. She married Richard Burdell Palmer Dec. 20, 1952, in Tipton. She was a registered nurse where she worked in the operating room for the University of Iowa, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, at the VA in Iowa City and at Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She attended Plato School, West Branch School, Tipton High School and Mercy School of Nursing. She attended Tipton United Methodist Church and was a member of Eastern Star, Tri-Sigma, Nursing Affiliations, Tipton Methodist Church Choirs and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.
