Description	:	Mr. Sidney L. Riggin, well-known and highly respected ship carpenter, died at his home on Cove street Tuesday morning of this week, following a heart attack suffered three weeks ago. He was 67 years of age. Born in Crisfield, he was the son of the late Seth and Mary Sterling Riggin, and the husband of Mrs. Amy Sterling Riggin, who survives him. Riggin, well-known and highly respected ship carpenter, died at his home on Cove street Tuesday morning of this week, following a heart attack suffered three weeks ago. He was 67 years of age. Born in Crisfield, he was the son of the late Seth and Mary Sterling Riggin, and the husband of Mrs. Amy Sterling Riggin, who survives him. Mr. Riggin was an employee of the Forbush & Sons Marine Railways here, and was an expert ship carpenter. He built and helped build a number of boats now plying the bay, and also several menhaden fishing steamers working in Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico coastal waters. For a number of years Mr. Riggin was employed in building and repairing fishing steamers for the Quinn Menhaden Fisheries, with headquarters in Fernandina, Fla., and also worked for the same concern in Louisiana and Mississippi. He was a man of honesty and integrity who took pride in his profession, a man who did many deeds of kindness for others, a firm friend, and a good citizen, quiet, unassuming, speaking with candor, and having his own views on civic matters and public questions. Mr. Riggin was a good neighbor, and for many years had been a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church here. He had many friends in the south as well as in his home community. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Bradshaw - Covington Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Walter A. Donoway, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Church. Interment was in the Crisfield Cemetery. Bearers were Wesley Evans, Carey Evans, Calvin Johnson, Wilson Somers, Seth Galloway and Horace Evans. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Amy Sterling Riggin, two sons, Howard Riggin of Crisfield and Sterling Riggin of Baltimore, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Evans, Mrs. Martha Evans and Mrs. Legolia Dize, and one brother, Wesley, all of Crisfield, and, one grandchild.
