Description	:	Jackson, Neb. - Former Dakota County Commissioner Silius H. “Cy” Nelson, 84, of Jackson died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital of long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church at Jackson. The Rev. Emmet Meyet will officiate. The Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Jack Becker Funeral Home at South Sioux City. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery at Jackson. Harty-McNally post 175, American Legion, will conduct graveside services. Mr. Nelson was born in Salix, Iowa July 14, 1895. He married Jane A. Beacom Feb. 4, 1920, at Willis, Neb. He was a rural mail carrier 42 years at Jackson and an insurance agent. He was a veteran of World War I. He served on the Village Board at Jackson and the Board of Directors of the Goldenrod Community Action Council 1971-1977. He was a charter member of the Harter-McNally post, and a former district Legion commander. He also was a service officer for the American Red Cross; secretary-treasurer for North East Nebraska Telephone; member of Modern Woodmen of America and Civil Defense; former member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Tracey Council. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Norma) O’Neill of Ponca; two brothers, Marvin of Dakota City and Frank of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Abigail Larsen of Elk Point and Mrs. Ellen Stebner of Walla Walla, Wash.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
