Sorey of the Christian Church officiated at his service. ************************************************ The Emporia Gazette, 19 Dec 1912, Thur CONCERNING SOLOMON BROWN Solomon G. Brown, who died at his home in Eureka Thursday, was born in Emporia, April 18, 1866. He was the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. S. G. Brown, the founder of the First Christian Church in Emporia. He spent his boyhood in Emporia and in 1888 was married to Miss Bessie Bowser. To them were born three children, Webster, Florence and Sallie [Sollie], all of whom are dead. Mrs. Brown and an adopted child, Ruth, survive. Mr. Brown spent part of his married life in Lyon County on a farm nine miles southwest of Emporia. From there he moved to Woodson County, where he remained until about four years ago, when he moved to Eureka. For the past four years he had been in bad health, and two weeks ago he suffered a paralytic stroke. Mr. Brown is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Nackie Roberts, of Kansas City; Mrs. Della Fowler, of Nevada, Mo.; Mrs. Maude Greer, of Emporia; Mrs. Ella Aney, of Kansas City, and Mrs. Pearl Frost, of Kansas City; by four half sisters, Mrs. Margaret Gilmore, Mrs. Lillie Avery, Mrs. Sarah Staley, all of Emporia, and Mrs. Matilda Wilson, of Hartford; one brother, Rice Brown, of Emporia; and one half brother, George Brown, of San Antonio, Texas. Solomon Brown joined the Christian Church in young manhood, and was a conscientious Christian. He had many friends in Lyon County, Woodson County and in Eureka. ************************************************ The Emporia Gazette, 14 Dec 1912, Sat ABOUT SOLOMON G. BROWN The funeral services of Solomon G. Brown, were held this morning at 11 o'clock at Maplewood Cemetery. Rev. M. L. Sorey, of the First Christian Church, had charge of the services. The pall-bearers were Raymond Fowler, John Fowler, Fred Fowler, O. E. Fowler, Tom Roberts and Fred Triggs. A quartet composed of Mrs. F. A. Meckel, Mrs. Achsah Harris, Harry Carnine and D. O. Jones sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." A large crowd met the body at the station when it arrived from Eureka.
