| Description | : | Solomon Yoakam was born abt 1792 in Virginia to Michael and Drusilla Yoakam, members of an old and respected colonial family. His father's family moved to Knox County, Ohio in 1810. In that early day the woods were inhabited by wild animals and Indians. Solomon remained in Virginia and served In the War of 1812, a private in Capt. Wamsley's Company of Virginia Volunteers. On the 30 May 1816 Solomon married Ruth Carter in Knox County, Ohio.
