She died Thursday, Jan. 4, 1990, at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center. Sophia Luebke was born in rural Mansfield at the Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage on April 8, 1903, to the Rev. Henry and Hulda (Kruger) Lubke. She attended country school there. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She married Robert E. Ristau on June 28, 1922, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm in New Hope Township until they retired in 1960. They moved into Aberdeen. He died Dec. 7, 1977. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and was a past officer and a former Sunday school teacher. Survivors include two sons, Alvin Ristau of Aberdeen and Robert J. Ristau of Mansfield; two daughters, Mrs. Irl (Irene) Schaunaman of Warner and Mrs. Lyle (Trudy) Schaunaman of Aberdeen; one brother, Walter Luebke of Kennewick, Wash.; three sisters, Tobea Luebke of Fitzgerald, Ga., Mrs. Erwin (Frieda) Oehlert of Florissant, Mo., and Mrs. Arthur (Olga) Krause of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and three sisters. Honorary casketbearers will be all her grandchildren. Casketbearers will be all nephews, Marvin Ristau of Mansfield, David Borchard of Aberdeen, Martin Luebke Jr. of Garretson, Paul Luebke of Parkston, Marvin Koecher of Duquette, Minn., and Everette Koecher of Kerrick, Minn.
