Description	:	Sophia Parrish was born August 19, 1852, at Toulon, Illinois, and passed to her reward August 31, 1923; having attained the age of seventy-one years and twelve days. She grew to womanhood in Toulon, and was united in marriage with Nathanial Dexter Maxfield, December 5, 1872. In 1882 they removed to Fairmont, Nebraska, where they resided on a farm until the year 1901. After 1901 they resided in town until the death of her husband in 1920. Read More	Sophia Parrish was born August 19, 1852, at Toulon, Illinois, and passed to her reward August 31, 1923; having attained the age of seventy-one years and twelve days. She grew to womanhood in Toulon, and was united in marriage with Nathanial Dexter Maxfield, December 5, 1872. In 1882 they removed to Fairmont, Nebraska, where they resided on a farm until the year 1901. After 1901 they resided in town until the death of her husband in 1920. Since his death, Mrs. Maxfield removed to Lincoln, where she resided until her death. She is one of a family of nine children, two sisters of whom are still living. She is survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; by five children who are: Mrs. Chloe Ester Tutty of Lincoln, George Frederick of Fairmont, Otis Charlton of Omaha, Mrs. Minnie Cecelia Stone and Mrs. Genevieve Ethelyn Beckman of Lincoln. She was a member of the St. Paul M.E. church of Lincoln and an honored and active member of both the Rebekah and Order of Eastern Star and was always ready to aid and assist wherever she could. Her death came with no fear, but with perfect happiness and it was her wish and prayer that she might pass away on the same day as her beloved husband, which prayer the loving Father answered by saving her life within fifty minutes of the time of her husband died just exactly three years ago to the day. Short services were held Sunday morning at 9:30 at the Alba Brown Undertaking Parlors in Lincoln, Rev. Walter Aitken of the St. Paul M.E. church officiating, conducted by members of the Lincoln Chapter No. 148 Order of the Eastern Star. The remains were then taken to Fairmont, where funeral services were held from the M.E. church, Rev. V.C. Wright officiating. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery. She was a most thoughtful and loving mother and her cheerful smile will long be remembered by a vast circle of friends. ------------------------------------- Married Nathaniel D.
