P. Broadwell. Mrs. Broadwell was born in Springfield, Illinois, September 22nd, 1850. Her maiden name was Sophronia E. Burge. While quite young she removed from Springfield to Ottawa, Kansas, together with her two brothers, Clifton L. and Geo. W. Burge. She was married to Mr. W. P. Broadwell, January 19th, 1869. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Emporia, where they resided ever since. Her brother, Clifton L. Burge, also now resides in Emporia and was with her when she died. Mrs. Broadwell was early interested in religious things, and at the age of sixteen made a profession of her faith in Christ, and connected herself with the Methodist Episcopal church. She was thoroughly unselfish in her disposition, exceeing generous in all intercourse, and won the esteem and affection of all who knew her. A large circle of friends will miss and mourn her, and the home where she dwelt is broken.
