Mr. Dawson was an over the road truck driver and had worked at the creamery in Sabetha. He later worked for TransCon Trucking in Omaha, Neb., until he retired. Read More	SABETHA --- Stanley R. Dawson, 77, Sabetha, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at an Omaha, Neb., hospital. Mr. Dawson was an over the road truck driver and had worked at the creamery in Sabetha. He later worked for TransCon Trucking in Omaha, Neb., until he retired. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and he also served in the Kansas National Guard. He was born April 24, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Irving Dawson and Roselle Litturst Dawson. He attended school in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Grand Island, Neb., two years ago. Mr. Dawson was a member of the Catholic Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Lodge. He was a former member of the Teamsters Union. He married Lucille McClure on Sept. 22, 1945, in Long Beach, Calif. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Patricia Humphrey, Pasco, Wash., Joni Aue, Morrill, Judith Dienst, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Gayla Dawson, Alexandria, Va.; a son, Michael Dawson, Clifton, Colo.; two brothers, Joseph Dawson, Long Island, N.Y., and Michael O'Brien, Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Patricia Stump, in Florida; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by a son, John Joseph Dawson, on Oct. 2, 1955. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sabetha Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Post No. 7285 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sabetha. A vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha will be followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the charity of the donor's choice and sent in care of the mortuary.
