Description	:	Stella Roland, one of 10 children, and daughter of Jacob and Easter Lavina Mann Kohl, was born on a farm near Republic April 17, 1889. As a small child, the family moved to a farm near Hardy. She attended Beach School east of Cadams, through the eighth grade. March 3,1909, she was united in marriage to William T. Read More	Stella Roland, one of 10 children, and daughter of Jacob and Easter Lavina Mann Kohl, was born on a farm near Republic April 17, 1889. As a small child, the family moved to a farm near Hardy. She attended Beach School east of Cadams, through the eighth grade. March 3,1909, she was united in marriage to William T. Roland in Hebron; This union was blessed with six children. They farmed for many years and then moved to Superior during the 1930's. She had many stories to share, telling of her experiences with Indians and especially the many changes she had seen in her lifetime. Mrs. Roland maintained her own home until her recent illness. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William, on March 6, 1951; two sons, Earl and Kenneth; one daughter, Mildred Moffatt; five brothers, Elias, Wallace, John, Richard and Bert Kohl; four sisters, Mollie Powers, Nellie Conley, Gertie Sankey and Myrtle Sankey; and two grandsons, Jack Coffman and Bob Strnad. She is survived by two daughters, Marie Britton of Troudtdale, Ore., and Beulah Strnad of Superior; one son, Merle L. Roland, also of Superior; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren 27 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. Mrs. Roland died April 17 on her 101st birthday at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital after a brief illness. The funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m., from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Heydenberk officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Superior Express, Thursday, April 26, 1990.
