Description	:	Steven Frank Safly, 74, of Ridgeway, Missouri, and formerly of Gilbert, Iowa, passed away June 17, 2016, at home. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 25, at the Stratford Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stratford, Iowa, with visitation from 12 pm to 2 pm and services at 2 pm. Steve was born on July 27, 1941 to the Late Howard and Francis Safly. He attended the Napier, Ia school, and United Community School. He played football, basketball and baseball. Read More	Steven Frank Safly, 74, of Ridgeway, Missouri, and formerly of Gilbert, Iowa, passed away June 17, 2016, at home. Steve was born on July 27, 1941 to the Late Howard and Francis Safly. He attended the Napier, Ia school, and United Community School. He played football, basketball and baseball. Steve enlisted in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran after serving from 1959 to 1961. After returning home he was a Sgt. at the Boone National Guard Unit. He received his degree in mechanical drafting in Minnesota and worked for the Atomic Energy at Iowa State. Inside work was not for him, he began working for Nelson Construction then started farming. In 2003 he retired and moved to Missouri. In January of 2006 he married Karen Johnson Pickering. Steve loved life; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and raising wild life, gardening, snowmobiling, boating and 4 wheeling and later spending warm winters in the south. Steve was an amazing man with humor, knowledge of being able to fix about anything, and encouraging everyone to do their best. Preceding Steve in death were his parents Howard and Francis Safly, Joyce Safly sister in law, Mitchell Pickering and Mariah Pickering granddaughter, and father-in-law Roger Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife Karen, 5 sons; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers; mother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. The family is being served by the Bethany Memorial Chapel of Bethany, Missouri. Private Inurnment at a later date. He is survived by: Karen Pickering Safly, Spouse; Todd Safly, Son; Scott Safly, Son; Josh (Brittany) Pickering, Son; Clinton (Lindsay) Pickering, Son; Nicholas (Jessica) Pickering, Son; Jim Safly, Brother; Jack (Julie) Safly, Brother; Ann Johnson, Mother-in-law; Dylan, Collin, Evan, Jayden, Chloe, Grandchildren; Hudson, Finley, Emily, Bentley, Cooper, Grandchildren.
