Read More	Bertha Spilker Schroeder, 91 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska, died Saturday night, March 11, 2006 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. She was born on April 13, 1914 at rural Pickrell, Nebraska and attended country school. She married Fred H. Spilker on February 11, 1934 at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska. They lived in the Pickrell area and farmed for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (Soap Creek) of rural DeWitt, Nebraska and the Willing Workers church circle. Following Fred's death she moved to Beatrice and worked at the Mennonite Hospital for a short period of time. On September 4, 1974 she married Edwin Schroeder. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, baking and cross-stitching. Survivors include one daughter Juliana Zwink and her husband Robert Zwink of Edmonds, Washington. One daughter-in-law Ethelene (Lee) Spilker of Pickrell, Nebraska. Step-son Dale Schroeder and his wife Dorothy of DeWitt, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Anna Hoffman Schmidt, her first husband Fred Spilker, who died on September 23, 1972, her second husband Edwin Schroeder, who died on December 19, 1986, two sons Dale and Marvin Spilker, a daughter-in-law Mavis Spilker, grandson Kevin Spilker, granddaughter-in-law Kerri Spilker and great-grandson Devin Spilker three brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Soap Creek) of rural DeWitt, Nebraska with Pastor Larry Fruhling officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul Church Cemetery of rural DeWitt. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday in the fellowship hall of the church. A memorial has been established to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery and Angel's Landing Unit at the Good Samaritan Center with the Oran Obering and Larry Hasenohr in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home until 9:00 P.M. Monday and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Tuesday. The family will meet and greet friends Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home. Online a register book is available www.foxfuneralhome.net for signatures and messages of condolence. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
