Buckley Held Friday, Passed Away At Home Of Her Daughter In Altoona Mrs. J.H. Buckley, a life time resident of this community, passed away August 30, at the home of her daughter in Altoona, following a short illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Colfax Friday, with Rev. F.B. Morr of Altoona in charge. Susanah Alexander was born in Jasper County, Iowa, January 11th, 1867, and passed away August 30th 1939, at the age of 72 years, 7 months. She was the daughter of Richard and Sarah A. Alexander, pioneers of Poweshiek township. On Dec. 24th, 1884, she was united in marriage to Joseph H. Buckley. To them were born five children, one dying in infancy, one son Ronald at 8 years of age, and a daughter, Mrs Eva Kaldenberg, in 1932. After the death of her husband in April, 1929, she went to live with her children. A few months ago, he health failing, she moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Blake at Altoona, where she has since resided and was tenderly cared for in her last illness. Mrs. Buckley became a member of the Methodist Church in early girlhood and as long as her health permitted her joy was in the church services. Later years she has taken great comfort in her Bible and religious publications, always being glad to pass them on to all her many friends calling their attntion to verses and articles that especially interested her. There remain to mourn her passing her daughter, Mrs Leena Blake, her son, Ray Buckley, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and four sisters; C.J. Reese and Mrs. Emma Seeley of Woodbine, Iowa; G.B. Reese of davenport, Ia, Mrs. Tina Barker of Mingo, Ia, Mrs. Anna Whitehead of Des Moines, Ia, J.R. Alexander of Colfax, and Mrs Isabel Mckeever of Mitchellville, Iowa. Music was furnished by a Colfax quartet with Mrs. E.S. Calhoun accompanist. Pall bearers were old neighbors, C.S. Clark and Paul Renaud of Altoona, Fred Rummans and LeRoy Battles, Mitchellville, Fred Moll and Frank Morgan of Colfax. Mrs. Merlike of Altoona and Mrs. Frank Morgan were in charge of the flowers. Interment was in Mckeever Cemetery beside her husband.
