Read More	York News Times Aug. 9, 1901 Obituary of Susanna Hiett The deceased, Mrs. Susanna Hiett, whose maiden name was Miss Susanna King, was born in Hampshire County Virginia, August 26, 1827. Was married to Mr. James Hiett March 17, 1846, and as husband and wife they happily lived together for more than a half century. To them twelve children were born, seven boys and five girls, three of whom, one grown son, one grown daughter, and one infant son, have preceded both father and mother to their future destiny. Her much loved and worthy to be esteemed husband and father of the above mentioned children, whom she now goes to join in the land of eternal bliss, died January 28, 1901, there being but six months and twelve days between their deaths. The deceased came west with husband and family and settled in Illinois in 1868 and from there on a farm a few miles northeast of York, Neb, in 1877, which since has been her permanent home except the last two years of her life she moved with her husband into York and here died with old age and complication of ailments August 5 in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and one, at the age of 73 years eleven months and nine days. Sister Hiett became a Christian when a young lady, uniting with the Christian Church from which faith she never departed, living faithfully unto death. It can truthfully be said of her that she was a true and affectionate wife and kind patient mother and a tireless and triumphant Christian. The fact that her children are Christians and honorable citizens speaks in the highest terms of the influence cast about them in the home, now no longer here but transplanted and re-established in Heaven. Death always strikes the heart of the living a merciless blow, pierces veins of tears that flow as fountains and separates for a time, if not forever, souls that fondly united here. Still there is a sorrow the meaning of which is joy. To die in the Lord, triumphant over sin, death and the grave is the highest possible attainments for human creatures created in the image and likeness of God. We have abundant reasons to believe that this wife, this mother, this Christian has received the crown of victory and never ceasing redemption through the Savior of the world. To this end let us close the flood gates to our tears and pour oils of comfort on our hearts and with the saving faith of the gospel of Christ, let us pierce all the dark and sad things of this life, yea, even the grave, and patiently await the resurrection morn, where again once separated hearts and hands will be reunited, never again to part asunder throughout the countless ages to come. We thank the Lord for the promise of the Christian religion and for this long eventful life and do here pledge ourselves to praise His name, the name of names, forever.
