Mrs. Carpenter was born to Henry and Magdalena Flory, January 9, 1859, in Defiance county, Ohio, the oldest in a family of nine. On March 25, 1882, she was married to Isaac Monroe Carpenter, and to them was born seven children. Three children and her husband preceeded her in death.
